The actress shared her views during an appearance on the In My Opinion podcast, where she questioned the purpose of marriage when women are often left to handle most of the responsibilities at home.
According to Bisola, some women are beginning to question the need to remain married when they still have to manage household duties and other family responsibilities largely on their own.
“Women are like, you know what? What’s the point if I still have to do everything myself? Why do I have to be tied to this man all in the name of marriage?” she said.
She explained that some women serve as breadwinners while also bearing children, caring for them and managing the home, while their partners expect to be taken care of.
However, Bisola clarified that she does not consider marriage unimportant, saying she would be open to getting married if the opportunity arose, but would not make it the centre of her life.
“Marriage is an institution, is essential for the society. For me, if marriage does come, I will get married, but it is not the core of my existence. I mean, I’m doing pretty good,” she stated.
The mother of a 17-year-old daughter also spoke about the challenges of raising a child as a single parent, stressing that the responsibility should not fall on one person alone.
“Being a single parent and looking after my daughter, I still let her know that being a single parent is not that easy. That’s not what you should aspire to be. Bearing the whole load of raising a child shouldn’t be for one person alone,” she said.
Reflecting on turning 40 in January, the actress expressed satisfaction with her life and personal growth, describing this period as the best time of her life.
“I turned 40 in January. Yeah. I love me so much, and this is the best times of my life,” she added.
